To the point... can someone watch and video you through your i-Pad or i-Phone’s camera. The question took on a new sense of urgency last night so the reasoning for my question will follow shortly in part 2!!! I’m trying to make a short story out of a novel but (whats left of) my mind is just spinning out of control!!

I presume that you are asking about whether they may do this without your permission or knowledge. Certainly it is possible with many apps out there (like Zoom) where you are a knowing participant in the communication. Considering how aggressive some of the cyber thieves have been I'm also quite convinced it might happen. That is why a computer must be properly set up with virus and privacy protection software plus has all the back door and remote access points closed or turned off. I'm not expert on the current situation but did computer tech support for 20 years before retiring, so this sort of thing would come as no surprise to me.
From what I can gather, it is more prevalent in the Pc world than Apple ( well at least in portable devices (i-phone / i-pad)). I know they listen because there have been many times that we were talking about something in the house and ads come up about the same thing!! You hear of tv monitoring viewers and people putting tape over web cams but you (I) don’t think of phones etc!!!
Don’t think it matters much anymore because I believe my chest is going to simply f-n explode beforehand!!!!!

Sorry.... yes, without my consent!!! My grandson calls me on FaceTime but no Zoom or anything else that I know of.
