Numbness/Erections

45 years old, 7 weeks removed from robotic prostate surgery. The incontinence has slowed to more of trickle than leaking. Only using 1 maybe 2 guards a day. My concern is there is not movement of a erection. Left nerve bundle completely at 100% and right side 25% was removed. Still some numbness on the right side groin area. Two questions, how long does the numbness last and also when can I expect erections to return. I know everyone recovers at a different pace but just looking for some sign of life there. 🤷🏾‍♂️ Recently got the Encore pump should I use that daily to help. I am suppose to start physical therapy on April 24th but that will probably be postponed because of our current health pandemic. Any advice or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

Yes, use the pump daily. Use low dose daily ED meds if the incontinence clears up, otherwise use high dose "on demand." Trimix injections a couple of times per week.

Hi Wolfpack. Glad your operation was successful. TallAllens advice is right. My extra advice: Get yourself a specialist rehab dr that can take you through your recovery. (John P. Mulhall at MSKCC for example). Nerves take a long time to recover. They grow really slowly. Good news is that they can recover. Erections can take 2 years to come back. You’ll need drugs to get you there. Also: Get yourself a Specialist physio to help with exercises to get over the leaking. They can also help with penile rehab. Best wishes.

Also I heard acupuncture could assist also. Just looking for all options. Thanks!

Haven’t tried a lot of acupuncture. But my experience with back pain was really positive. Makes sense to me.. Go for it!

Hi Wolfpack,

I had my OP 08.2019. I can tell you that the numbness will go away soon but with the Erection..... Well that's a different matter. I am still waiting for that one. I had the same results. 100% saved and 25% removed. I have a lady friend that gives me oral pleasures every morning in the hope that one day it will be back. I am seeing some positive results but not the result that I hope for. They say that it takes time. Up to 2 years !!! I'm hoping and praying that it will be sooner !!! even the blue pills don't work. I haven't tried the pump yet. let me know how it works for you.

Good luck and be encouraged

My doc says he doesn’t even worry about it until the six to twelve month point. He gave me Cialis Once the bladder tidied up. I’m patient. Sort of.

I did hear Cialis helps more than the blue pills. Thank you.

I think it’s advantage is that by nature Cialis is intended to promote blood flow for about 36 hours where as Viagra last in the system for only a few.

I think you have a good chance of returning erections. I had surgery over 2 years ago, with left side nerves preserved and right side completely lost. This was followed by radiation and 18 months of bicalutamide and Eligard. I pumped faithfully for probably about 18 mos, with minimal erections or libido during the hormonal treatment. However, AFTER the hormonal treatment wore off, the erections returned fairly well, with mainly just the head of the penis not really erecting and the whole length a bit shorter. The libido returned and orgasms, as well, dry, of course. So, with your nerves BETTER preserved, you should do well, but it may take months/years, depending on if you need hormonal treatment. You are also MUCH younger that I am (I'm 63).
