I was dx 12/18/19 with PCa, Gleason 10. 76 year old, rathe healthy on no medications. I was put on the American Doctor Dance. See this one, referred to the next in 6 weeks. You all know the story. Well, my brother, also PCa, told me you are either the Hammer or the Nail. You need to choose whether you are in control or not. So, I took control. Within 30 days, I had an Oncologist, Radiologist, MRI, CAT scan, Bone scan and a genetic study.

Then the tempo changes as to opinions and treatments. I was eliminated from RP due to age. Pissed me off. They guided me down the Insurance company path, positive reimbursement. After two second opinions, was told had to wait 6-8 weeks on hormone before external radiation.

Since I am also a resident of Netherlands, opted to find out what European model offered. Had done on line research .

Hand carried my Medical Records and CD's of scans and returned.

Within two weeks. I had Family Practice doctor, Urologist, Radiation oncologist, registered with anyone and everyone.

Next week I go for marker implants. Two days later, scan to link to equipment for ERT.

Seven treatments as opposed to forty, my tumor located on prostate with slight invasion.

All I am trying to say here isas my brother said. BE THE HAMMER NOT THE NAIL

You are in control so go find your solution

The Best of Health to you all!!

From what I’ve learned, most US Dr’s don’t stray far from the Standard of Care if at all! Maybe we have more Lawyers here!!!

Even when the SoC changes such as 18m in lieu of 24m ADT, I was caught in the middle of that change where a replacement Url was adamant that I stay on Eligard longer than my original Rx of 18mo.

Also I understand that Eligard is issued “as needed” overseas in lieu of every 1,3,6.....months whether you’re castrated or not!!!

Big Pharm has doctors and lawmakers in their pockets!!!

I had SBRT 10 years ago. No lasting side effects, and I'm cured. It isn't yet approved for high risk cases like yours in the US, but there are clinical trials in the works. I hope it goes well for you.

How long has SBRT been available for treatment of prostate cancer in the US?

First use was 2003 at Stanford by Chris King.
