I always like to forward to prostate cancer patients, their caregivers, and others whom may be interested in a medical/science subject, that information that looks promising despite probably being on the distant horizon.
In this case we are talking about a form of natural sugar that in mice, called trehalose, blocks glucose from the liver and activates a gene that boosts insulin sensitivity, reducing the chance of developing diabetes.
Also mentioned is that “trehalose may encounter enzymes in the digestive tract that break it apart, releasing its two glucose molecules, which would be counterproductive. The researchers investigated a similar sugar — lactotrehalose — they found has the same beneficial effects from triggering Aloxe3 but does not break apart as easily.” Thus, here is yet another similar sugar – lactotrehalose – that will obviously be included in further research.
Certainly promising to protect us from developing diabetes as well as possibly turning around those already diagnosed with diabetes.
