Hi Gary. Sounds like you are experiencing ed from your surgery...is that correct?

Hm, interesting. May I ask why the radiotherapy after having your prostate removed? Did the PCa go outside the bounds of the surgical mass that was removed? I'm curious as I have not heard of this before. I had mine removed over 2 yrs. ago and have profound ED which evidently is a direct result of the little bugger being gone. Cialis, Levitra and/or Viagra have not helped much at all. So, for my two cents worth, skip the Cialis.

Surgery followed by secondary treatments is becoming more common for advanced cancer as it has better long term survival rates. For me I had surgery, s. radiation and I have started two years of hormonal therapy. I have Stage 4 Ductal T3N1MX.

I didn't . Erection was weak after sugary and not at all after radiation and I had complications 10 years later with bleeding from bladder and bowels .

I would ask doctor about this and the alternative and benefits of having proton treatment .

Hi Steve

Proton beam therapy isn't available in the UK well not on the NHS anyway and i wouldn't have the money to pay for it.

Gary,

Yes you should take the drugs. Everyone's recovery is different and just because you have not yet recovered from surgery and you are still going to need the radiotherapy there is still the possibility that you will have some recovery. It is best to give it a shot and try and maximize the recovery then just give up. Simply giving up is the worse option for you at this point. Some recovery is better then none.

Even if you do not get a full erection I would suggest you take Cialis or related drug. It will help keep blood flowing down there and help prevent scar tissue.

I had surgery and had luck with Trimix and pills. That is until I started hormonal therapy then 38 rounds of radiation. Mr. Happy went into a coma. That said, the doctors want me to continue taking pills to prevent scar tissue formation.

Gary, heed what Steve says about the bleeding, expect it. Ask your radiologist about it. In my case, the radiation caused a severe urinary blockage, which went untreated for a few years, The blockage was found while in for the butt bleed. It took only 6 years for me to get it. The rear end healed fairly quickly, the front end took nine months.

As far as the ED goes, ugh! The seventh anniversary of my Dx is fast approaching, and that's about how long ago I had an erection. I've gotten used to it. It may sound odd, but I don't miss it as much as I thought I would. The ADT had everything to do with it, even the mental part wasn't much to deal with.

Best of luck going forward, bro.

Not having an erection does NOT preclude orgasm. You have to think outside the box (pun intended). Embrace toys!
