Not really, if they contain caffeine - it's usually waaaaay in excess of the daily 'safe' intake in pregnancy... They also contain other chemicals that predispose you (and therefore bump) to tachycardia (fast heart beat).

Ok thanks. was confused because got people saying its ok then others saying its not.

i will stay away from them then x

I think anything you eat / drink "espicially whilst pregnant" in moderation is O.K. I agree that energy drink shouldnt be consumed in the early stages of pregnancy because of the high levels of caffine/tourine. but after & during the last trimester really shouldnt harm the baby too much

Excess caffeine is associated with late miscarriage/still birth...

As soon as Flump is out, I am having:

A) lots and lots of brie and Camembert

B) a good rare steak

C) lots and lots of non-decaffeinated coffee!!!

Pregnancy diet rule suck!!

It's said you can safely drink 2 cups if coffee a day so if you swapped a energy rink with a cup of coffee or tea then yes but to much coffee isn't good for the baby. When I had my first child I was taking in to hospital as I was worried I couldn't feel baby moving they hooked me up to a machine to monitor the movements and gave me a energy drink to wake baby it's worked and baby was bouncing all over almost like it was having a hypo so I would only recommend small amounts if you do drink it.

I agree 100% with Dr Fluffy, stear clear...I cut out all caffeinated drinks, our combined health comes first and I can go without. I have had periods of having ectopic heart beats so caffeine was def off the menu for me as soon as I found out x

Oh and anything too sugary too, I need to have an early glucose tolerance test due to early symptoms and my worry for gestational diabetes. Look after yourself and the health of your baby, that's what's important x

The nhs website contains the measures of caffeine in tea and coffee etc and there's actually more caffeine in a mug of coffee than there is in an energy drink. Personally I don't think there is anything wrong with having energy drink so long as you don't have too much. It was one thing I really craved early in pregnancy as I love the taste but I did only have a can every so often!

Check the individual energy drinks! Some are higher in caffeine and sugar than others. As an additional point-i'm not 100% sure about energy drinks but as caffeine and 'pop' are considered addictive then I would assume energy drinks are. So try to wean yourself down from the number your having (if any). If your not having any try not to start as you will find yourself wanting more and more! I drank (too much) coffee then got pregnant. I have cut coffee down but not out completely-I have one a day first thing when I get up so I don't end up with a withdrawal headache. But be aware of when your drinking/ fancying one too to try and regulate it. Good luck!
