I had this in early pregnancy too! So annoying, apparently the progesterone in your system makes your blood vessels more narrow or something? I ended up taking Amoxicillin but it didn't do anything, don't actually think I had an infection. It went away on it's own but only after a good while. It was worse in certain stuffy environments and I just popped paracetamol at work to get rid of the related headaches. There's so many meds you can't take for sinus issues when pregnant, it is really frustrating! I did find that inhaling menthol in hot water with a towel over my head helped a wee bit. Also, I had read about Nettie pots on Amazon and considered getting one of those....don't know if it would help but it could be worth a shot?
amazon.co.uk/Nosebuddy-Nose... bit weird but good reviews!
I had this so badly the best thing to do is:
Get a hot bowl of water, put some menthol vix into it, put a towel over your head and inhale.
Works brilliantly and is safe
I had this pregnancy rhinitis early on. It got quite painful and was hard to sleep. Agree inhaling steam vapour is best relief. It will go away
Thank you for your replies! it's reassuring to know I'm not the only one going through it!
yes i am 36 weeks and my nose is blocked from day 1 i thing. Some days is really hard to sleep with my mouth open but i was told this is normal !
I was told if that will be getting worse clean nose with warm water with salt , but didnt try .
I've had the same problem since day one, before I even found out but thought it was just the start of a cold. I'm 8 wks 5 days and still have it, tried all the above and found olbas sinus decongestant stick, that's helped. Sleeping is the worst, fingers crossed it passes soon.
Cranial osteopathy can work wonders for sinus problems. By releasing any tensions, it can really help with sinus drainage.
