Hello I'm currently 14+6 weeks (first baby) just not feeling well today, but cant put my finger on it. Been waiting for the tiredness to go now I've reached the second trimester bit its still there (as is going to the toilet through the night!). I got up this morning and I'm incredibly bloated and look more like I'm 6 months pregnant!! Has anyone else experienced this? I get quite bloated in the evening but this morning is ridiculous! I've got a really long day at work today and just not sure I'll manage with how I'm feeling!
Not feeling it today ...: Hello :) I'm... - Pregnancy and Par...
Not feeling it today ...
I got seriously bloated during my first trimester around week 13-14 what worked for me was
Prune Juice
Asked my doctor to recommend a stool-softener (although the bottle says that you need to take it for couple of days before it starts helping, but in my case it just took 2 spoons and two days to get back to normal) - but that might also be because of Prune Juice
I also hogged on leafy salad and Mangoes (mangoes can be tricky, they have always given me a soft stomach since kid-hood so it just worked in my case, it might not work for you).
Also increase your water intake.
On ringing my mid-wife (because I was in serious trouble with bloatedness) this is what I was told
She asked me to go off folic acid and iron supplements for a day or two (I was taking something else than Pregnacare which apparently had higher iron content making the things worse, I went off for a week - and instead increased Spinach and cabbage in the food)
She also told me to massage my bum cheeks and lower back when I am passing as this would stimulate the passage and make it easier. Also I bought a foot-stool for the bathroom and normally sit with my feet on top of it (which gives a somewhat squatting position)
Hope it may help you too. Call your midwife if you consider going off the iron supplement for a while (mostly the bloatedness is due to that) - but she would be in better position to tell from your file if its ok for you or not.
Take care
i looked 5 months gone by 12weeks! the doctor even argued i was further on than what my scan said. Tiredness wont go straight away but you should start to have a little more energy over the next few weeks. Watch your diet and water intake (always been recommended clear fluids) if you are still concerned speak to your midwife/GP.
Goodluck and hope you start to feel better soon. it does get easier but i still have days i feel tired and bloated and im 39+5 Joys of pregnancy! (but its all worth it when they are born)
Thanks for the responses! I've not had any problems with my bowels as yet (hopefully not at all), and I'm trying to drink so much more, but i have to drive a lot for work and have a fear of public bathrooms.... Was just amazed at how huge i looked - even my manager commented! Lol. I'll see how things go over the next few days. I guess i just want to enjoy my pregnancy, but not so much at the moment thanks again
i am 16w 5d with my first and my tiredness and sickness probably stopped around 14 weeks, but between 8-14 weeks i felt like crap, i cudnt eat dinner, i cried a lot and it got me down but now i feel like i did b4 i was pregnant and am eating what i like (within reason) when i like and i just feel so much happier, so hopefully u will too!! i get quite bloated obviously more so when i have eaten but my dad did comment to me yesterday that i looked like i had eaten loads of pie lol, but i am actually looking pregnant now rather than just a bit chubsy, I have started swimming in last few weeks and it has made me feel really gd. I work 12 hr shifts (plus travelling to and from work) so i know how u feel about the long days and stuff but i found being at work better than being at home as i had stuff to take my mind off feeling like crap. I constantly carry cereal bars with me and drinks so tht i can snack wherever whenever as i know for me drinking enough has always been a problem. hope u feel better soon, take care xx
