No, unless the NHS have introduced a new charge in the last 3/4 years.

If it's still valid the scan itself is free but you may be charged for any extra copies.

I forgot the charge used to be £3.00 for a extra copy of the scan picture

Depends on the area I think. My first scan pic during my first pregnancy but was £10 for the second pregnancy - we have since moved so a different hospital. They told us the charge on the appointment letter and we did get 6 shots for £10 as opposed to just 1 free one!

Enjoy your scan x

Sorry - that was supposed to say that scan pic was free in my first pregnancy but £10 in second pregnancy. Chubby fingers getting the better of me today!

in my area its £1 donation - and ofcourse as its a donation you can choose to give according to your happiness level - it goes in a small donation box in the wall and their is no receipt etc for it :)

Didn't realise it was all so different! We paid £5 for 5 scan photos (none were free). weird that it's so different around the country! x

My scans last year cost about £2.50 for a picture. As far as i know they're no longer free as not considered to be a medical need but they're not too costly. Call and ask them beforehand.

In Edinburgh you just give a donation of what you can afford. But I almost think there should be a charge, it's worth it after all!

In my area it's now £5 for 2 or £10 for 4 pics. You have to buy a ticket before the scan and then hope they get decent images, and enough for what you've paid for! In my first prey it was £5 for however many they printed and you paid after which was much better.

I had mine last week and had to pay £4 per print. But to be fair we paid for 2 and they gave us 3! So I didn't mind so much. Plus, it is well worth it!!

they print off a few copies anyway but i paid £3 per picture. had to pay first for tokens of how many you want then you go in for your scan. i bought 4 tokens at £3 and she printed 5 off so i had one free scan pic. safe to say i will only get two on my next scan and copy them for those who wants a pic in the family

I've been told its £4 for a pic in the letter inviting me to my scan- its on thurs so i dont know if i have to pay before, but probs! Crazy how much it varies but I guess it just depends on the primary care trust.

I am in Nottingham. I had to have an emergency scan at 7 weeks, & they gave me 1 pic for free. & then at my 12 weeks scan I got 4 different pics for free! So it seems maybe I was quite lucky after reading the above comments!
