At the beginning of this pregnancy I got very bad headaches, I think around week four to ten.

I like u drinks lots and I use a hot compress on my head and loses my eyes and went o bed early.

Paracetamol is allowed in pregnancy, but personally I would use this only if I felt I couldn't cope with the headache.

In regards to the tv and computer screen, u may ave to adjust contrast and brightness, also maybe get an eye test u might need glasses, some women eyes are affected in pregnancy.

Take the paracetamol if you need it. They don't tell you it's safe for the heck of it! I had regular (almost daily) headaches up until about 25 weeks, I'd have gone mad if I'd had to suffer them without relief.

Firstly, get your blood pressure checked. Headaches that won't abate can be a sign of elevated blood pressure.

Secondly, if you're only getting the headaches when using LCD screens you might want to increase the screen refresh rate. A low refresh rate can lead to headaches as the eyes try to adjust to the flicker a low rate produces and can't. Set your screen refresh rate to at least 70hrtz or higher.

Thirdly, check how your sitting while on the computer and texting. If you've got your head tilted down you're putting strain on the neck muscles and this is another common headache maker. If you're go a desktop pc, make sure the chair you're sitting in is set at the right height so you keep your lower jaw level with the floor, this should reduce the strain on the back of your neck. If you're on a laptop sat on the sofa (like I do) make sure you keep adjusting your position and take a break from the computer every half hour or so, even if its just to go make a drink or a loo trip.

Hopefully some of these things might help alleviate the problem, if it doesn't, go see your optician (Don't forget you get free treatment while pregnant, just get your mat B1 form from your midwife). If your optician can't find anything wrong, talk to your GP about your concerns. It may be something as simple as the things I've listed but its always safer to be sure.

Hope this helps :D

Despite my water intake I too suffered with persistent headaches. It was really awful as I just couldn't ease them.

I went to the opticians and my glasses needed changing, in fact they needed changing twice at great cost to me. But I did stop the headaches.

Good luck with managing it, let us know how you get on. x

I got headaches when my blood sugar level was low. Have u tried drinking a fizzy drink when the headache starts? Sometimes it's sugar you need as well as water x

That sonds like a good idea actually coz I'm not eating as much as normal and throwing most of it up so would make sense my blood sugars are low I will give it a go!

Don't forget though that headaches are a very common symptom in pregnancy, and it could be that you just get headaches! I had my eyes tested, my BP checked and all the above - nothing was wrong. I was just prone to headaches during pregnancy. There are no prizes for martyrdom, and pregnancy can be rubbish enough. If you do need to take paracetamol, there's nothing to beat yourself up about, Hope you sort it out though.

I get headaches anytime whether I'm pregnant or not and 1 thing that really helps me is the cool pads to stick on your forehead. I know there are some for adults and some for kids. I use the kids cool n soothe. It's a bit cheaper than the adult version. Hope it helps for you x
