I was told I'd get mine at my next appointment with my midwife on valentine's day- I'm 18 weeks. So guess is about 24 weeks :)

Sorry, I didn't apply either- sje said I'll just get it during the midwife regular check ups. Hope that helps :)

You do need to send off for this. Im 15 weeks and I have mine already. Your midwife should give you a form on your first visit which you fill in and send off then just wait for your card to come. I was roughly 5 and a half weeks when I sent mine off and received my card over a week later. Hope this helps x

I had to ask for mine & even though I asked specifically for this (once I'd found out it what it was at about 20 odd wks)I was asked again "was it the matB1" & not knowing it was a different thing I just said yes & realized the mistake when I got home. I promptly phoned my then midwife immediately & was told I could just ask for this at the reception of my doctors after all that. (Wish I'd been told that first without having made 2 wasted journeys, lol). You fill in that form, send it off & a card will get posted back to you, don't think there's a time issue as there is with the MatB1 which is for claiming purposes from 24 wks or something. I did request a change of midwife but for other reasons than unhelpfulness with this issue.

Hello , on my first visit with my Gp where i found i was pregnant ( 8 weeks ) she asked me to fill in the form . Shouldn’t take more than week for them to sign this form.

( i had problem with mine as my doctor gave me wrong for and reception couldn’t post my form ) and after my investigation got my card week later . ( when i was 14 weeks ) i think , as i was worried as my dentist was asking me for this card .

Go/ phone your practice and they will give you number which you can call and check why you haven’t received your card yet .

Definitely by now you should have received one .

Maybe this will be helpful . From NHS website :

Q. How do I apply?

A. Apply on form FW8 which is available from your doctor, midwife or health visitor.

Q. How long will the certificate last?

A. Certificates start from the date one month before the date on which we get your application, to twelve months after the expected date of the baby's birth. If your baby is born later than expected you may need to apply for an extension.

Q. How long will it take for my certificate to arrive?

A. You should expect to receive your certificate within 10 working days of us receiving your application.

Hi - I'm ten weeks and just got mine yesterday, it took about 4 weeks to come through and my GP gave me the FW8 form to fill in, they then sent it off. You need to follow this up as it seems that not all GP's or midwives remember to advise on benefits etc. Good luck!

Get in touch with your midwife. Mine gave me a form to send off at my 10-week appointment. Haven't used it once yet! Though I did get the flu jab at my maternity unit.
