Hi everyone

I have taken few tests and my HCG levels are rising but rather slowly, well at least that what I think, Anyone in same situation?

This is my first positive pregnacy test , I havent had a baby before and I dont know if what the tests show are considered ok.

I'm not familiar with these tests. Do they give a specific number? Normally it should double every forty eight hours.

If you are unsure how pregnant you are worth asking your GP to do a HCG test for you.

Hi

These are easy at home pregancy tesrmts, I read about them that they detect low hcg levels so Ive been using them.

I wish there would be some that would tell you what the hcg level is

I did buy Clear blue test and it showed Im 1-2 weeks pregnant x

definitely check with doctor or hospital. The level of hcg should double or at least 60% in every 48 hours. If the rise is slow this could be indication of ectopic pregnancy so you should be careful. By doing blood test they can monitor the blood hcg level. Wishing you all the best and a very smooth pregnancy.

I would say if you've already tested positive at only 11dpo that's quite a strong positive because at this point you've not even missed your period. These tests don't accurately measure the amount of hcg in your urine only the presence of it. So if your pee isn't the exact same dilution, different time of day etc it'll show different results, even if they're all positive.

So your first pee of the day is going to be strong as its built up over night, but one taken after you've had plenty to drink and eat during the day could be a weaker result. So I wouldn't use these to try to check how much your hcg is rushing because it won't be accurate.

Unless you've had any other issues you're unlikely to need any other tests or checks to confirm your pregnancy. You can refer yourself to a midwife through your GP, if you're in the UK.

They'll go through a booking in appointment with you at about 8 weeks pregnant.

You can look on the NHS website for details on how to calculate your pregnancy duration from your last missed period date, the website also has lots of information about pregnancy and was really helpful for me.

Congratulations and hope you have a happy, healthy pregnancy x

Hi,

Many thanks.

Ive taken another 2 tests this morning, and then I went to see my GP practice- they said they do not carry out blood tests to confirm pregnancy.

I do want some advice for peace of mind and they booked me in for an appointment tmw so I will see a Dr .

Im obviously very happy and just want to be sure everything is allright as this is my first pregnancy Im 39 y old and I am rather clueless what are the steps Im supposed to be taking.

Thank you xxx

I'd definitely recommend looking up some details on the pregnancy journey on the NHS website. It will give you lots of information about what to expect during you pregnancy. If it's your first pregnancy it'll probably be a bit of a shock at how little your doctor gets involved. I didn't see my gp for either of my pregnancies.

I had a midwife and they will give you information detailing when you'll have your appointments and scans, but it's really not that many unless you have any risk factors identified, then you might be referred to consultant lead care or under an obstetrician, but none of these things will happen until at least 8-10 weeks when you have your booking in appointment with your midwife and they'll go through any risks factors with you.

Good luck x

Hi

I will look it up, thanks for your advice. Ive been emailed a link from my Gp practice to complete a self referral for pregnancy, I will do that as well.

Very helpful xx

Seb9 has covered everything.

If you can't wait until 12 week scan you can go privately for a scan. But normally you can only see anything from 5-6 weeks onwards. So at this stage it's probably still very early days. Wishing you the best! 💙

I also used these when I was pregnant and they caused me more anxiety than they were worth with some lighter/darker results as they seem to be very sensitive to how much liquid you have drunk ect. Congratulations on your pregnancy - I hope it goes smoothly for you!

Are you sure it’s a miscarriage? Because the same thing happened to me, bleeding after my first doctors appointment at 5.5 weeks and I now have a boy who’s turning 3 very soon! Keep taking any meds/vitamins etc, you’re not out yet xx

Hi NicoJono

Thanks so much for your message. How are you?

Ive been in contact with the misscarriage association and they have been wonderful amazing support.

Theres not a day that goes by that I dont think about what happened and feel my emotions get the best of me. Ive returned to work and although it keeps me busy its very difficult at times. My hubby has been a gem throughout and hes the only person I can really open up to and who understands me.

This support team has been amazing with you wonderful people xx
