PGP - Belt advice please ๐๐ผ
oh I had that in both my pregnancies. I went to a physio who gave me a basic belt. She said it must not cover the bump and be as low as possible on the groin area. She also said I shouldnโt wear it while sitting down, only when walking. It was a standard belt that weightlifters wear in the gym, narrow and quite sturdy with Velcro. I believe they are called Sacroiliac Support Belts. I was told to steer clear of the belts advertised for pregnancy that go over the bump as they are not recommended by medical professionals
It helped a little but frankly, nothing really helped much. The most helpful thing for me was getting some properly supporting and comfortable shoes, getting rid of anything with a thin sole. Also a bit of gentle walking but not very much exercise every day, as well as a bit of gentle Pilates for pregnancy. The cat/cow poses were a great relief.
It went a few weeks after the birth. Both times I found no magic bullet to make it better but being gentle with my body and using good shoes, and the belt whenever I walked any distance, made it tolerable.
The best thing to do is go to the physio midwifes I bought a belt but it didnโt really help and then when I went to her she actually fitted it correctly and it made such a a difference and she ordered me a better one which was even better again! She said it depends on your shape size of bump etc . So always best to get it fitted. The ne that worked better for me had 2 separate straps and was wider but it was the tightness and placement that made all the difference really once she showed me how to wear it properly and when xx
