metformin advice

i got diagnosed with diabetes in may 2021 and my reading was 50mmol so I was advised to change my diet and more exercise. I completely changed my diet and do more exercise than I ever have done. I have just had another blood test and my result was 57 mmol and getting put on metformin. Is 57mmol high and any advice on metformin and side effects?

You may get more help in a diabetes specific group as the NCT is mostly about childbirth. I had gestational diabetes while I was pregnant and took Metformin and insulin, but I no longer have diabetes so have stopped all medication.I found it took a while to adjust to taking Metformin, it can upset your stomach a bit and I found that it made me have a weird taste in my mouth for a while, but after a few months it was not really any issues with it and it helped control my blood levels.
