Metformin, trying to conceive

I have PCOS, my ovaries have a sort of scar tissue around them preventing me from releasing an egg so I don’t ovulate, I have had all sorts of bloods and scans etc... I was sent to a gynocologist to see if they would start us on any fertility treatment but clomid was out of the question until I lose weight. So they signed me off and told me to lose weight. My doctor has since put me on Metformin. Has anyone else used Metformin, I have read instances where it can help them ovulate and get pregnant. I suppose I’m just looking for some hope... a light at the end of the tunnel I suppose.

I have PCOS however mine isn’t bad enough to explain why I couldn’t conceive. I was still ovulating but I pushed to try metformin which didn’t help in the end but I have heard it can help others and can also help people lose weight. I also couldn’t try clomid because I was ovulating so was referred for IVF. I now have a baby girl from the IVF and carried on taking metformin all the way through the pregnancy as my clinic says it can help reduce miscarriage x

Metformin can also help to loose weight. Would definitely try to loose the extra weight cause that itself can help your pcos, and give you a better chance at conceiving and having a healthy pregnancy.

I would highly suggest slimming world as really worked for me after my first baby! (Although gained loads during my second pregnancy so gone back again!)

My main goal is to lose weight as I’ve been heavy and pregnant and it’s not enjoyable, I want the meat little bump and the energy to do things with my 4yr old as well as being pregnant. I have a gym membership so now is as good a time as any to start using it haha x

Yes I know it's hard to keep up with a toddler when u struggle to catch ur breathe up a flight of stairs. All for the gym but you still need to cut down on calories as gym alone is unlikely to help loose weight. Good luck 😊

Hai...from 2014 to 2016 almost 3 years I took Metformin for polysystic overy. I tried to reduce weight as doctor suggested. But it doesn't work..2017 January I visited one Dr in Abudhabi and she told me if u want to get pregnant I need to follow her restrictions .for 3 month I need to take Metformin .and I need to avoid completely any sweets or sugar contained item.its include all fruits ..tea/ coffee with sugar...Dr told if any sugar item touch with your tongue it will not work. And I was 104 kg that time .she told me I need to reduce weight.so I need to walk 10 km daily and eat food only 3 time..but I can't eat potato bcz it also includes sugar.and between each meal she told don't drink water also..it was for me very difficult..then Dr told if u follow these you will get pregnant within 3 month..if not come after 3 month and will go for another treatment..for me I want baby that s why I done wht Dr told .my husband was so sad bcz i am struggling .but by grace of got I got pregnant on March..I reduced 20 kg with that 3 month .you can't believe it..but it's true.i delivered baby October 24 ,one month early from the date..now she is 4 month .if u taking Metformin don't use sugar.it will work.i am from south Indian

Metformin will only slightly help it's not going to do anything if you keep on eating the same... there is no such thing as a miracle drug
