advice please!

hi there,

I am wondering if you ladies have any advice you could kindly share with me. My beautiful son is 15 weeks old and was exclusively Breast fed until 12 weeks where I started introducing formula as I felt I couldn’t keep up with his hunger. The last two weeks since introducing Kendamil, he has been wonderful. However the last few days, every morning, he has projectile vomited his first feed. This only happens with his first feed, not the others through the day. He sleeps from 9pm-6/7am without the night feed now. He is fed every 3 hours with 6 oz throughout the day and his last feed is about 8pm. We pace his bottle and take our time, burping him every couple of oz. Where are we going wrong with the morning feed? We try holding him upright for a bit before giving him his bottle incase he has gas sitting in his tummy from lying down all night but he is still sick. We cant delay the feed

in the morning to let his tummy settle as he seems so hungry. I will contact my health visitor too but thought I would see if anyone else had ideas? Should I feed him through the night a small amount so it’s not so much in his tummy first thing in the morning? I’m at a loss!

any help would be so appreciated.

With many thanks in advance xx

Is the first feed a bottle? What size teat is it? You could maybe try moving down a teat size just for that bottle (size 0/1) to try and slow things down a little when he is drinking? You could also try stopping and starting (he may not be happy about this though and I found that wound up my little boy up but might be worth a go). I do t think I would disturb sleeping pattern (I do anything to avoid breaking the habit of sleeping through lol) but you could do a ‘dream feed’ before you go to bed if you want to see if it’s cos he’s too hungry in the morning but even when we were doing that little guy still guzzled morning bottle out of habit. You could try changing formula to an anti reflux one but I’ve heard kendamil is quite a good one anyway. We used aptimal premade and it completely eliminated almost all sickness whatsoever but I don’t think kendamil do a premade or I would have suggested trying that for the morning too rather than making up with powder xx

I'd definitely agree with the other poster, about teat size and stopping and starting to do extra winding, but I'd also say, give it a week or so and see if it improves. They change so quickly and then throw the next thing at you. What's worrying you this week will be totally different in two weeks time. Xx
