Hi! I’m currently 5/6 weeks pregnant and for about a week or so I’ve been experiencing ocasional “period like” cramps throughout the day but at night time I’ve waking up in the middle of the night with a really sharp pain in my uterus area. It’ll settle after a while and I manage to go back to sleep but it’s been almost every night now. I’ve tried speaking with my GP but didn’t even get pass the receptionist as they told me to self refer to a midwife unit (which I have but haven’t heard anything back regarding booking a first appointment). Just wondering if anyone has experience this before.
P.s.: it’s my first pregnancy so I don’t have a clue what’s normal or not

Cramping is fairly normal, the GP won't really do anything for you at this stage, they'll refer you to the midwife and they'll normal see our speak to you around 8 to 10 weeks.
The start for life website has some helpful information on your pregnancy and symptoms that are fairly common in early pregnancy.
You only really need to contact anyone if you're having very bad cramps that don't ease or that are accompanied by heavy bleeding or pain in your shoulder tip.
