7 weeks pregnancy help

Hi everyone

We unbelievably got a positive test after 5 years trying and 4 ivf cycles which was a total shock. However know I’m constantly worrying about everything and anything and on tissue watch every time I go to the toilet.

I keep having a gripe type pain which washes over me a bit like a diarrhoea/cramp type pain, sorry for the detail but it’s almost like a pain you get when you need to do a big fart 🙈 which would make the pain go away, yet it’s not like trapped wind, I don’t think. Is this normal??

Also (sorry again!) if I have any slight discharge there is a colour to it, I wouldn’t say pink but almost pink and it’s only every now and then? Is this normal? The midwife said it doesn’t sound like something I should worry about as it’s not blood or any infection or pain but just wanted to see if anyone else has had this? I’ve got an early scan next Wednesday just to ease my mind and also to help me believe this is real! Thanks for reading my long post! X

Congratulations!! You’re pregnant!

It took us a while to get pregnant too and I don’t think it sunk in until he was in my arms. Even now, at 17 weeks old, I still find it hard to believe he’s here.

I experienced the sensation/pain you’re talking about too. I got a lot of it early on and then sporadically throughout pregnancy. Some of it was growing pains - uterus growing and everything moving about and expanding for baby. Also some of it was bad gas due to the pregnancy - I thought no way could it be that painful but turned out it was.

Sounds perfectly normal but to put your mind at ease, definitely go for private scans if you can. We had a few spread across my pregnancy to put our minds at ease. I found once I got to the second trimester I felt less worried, then as time went on and we had scans and met milestones it got less and less scary. Although I did always worry. I’m not sure the TTC struggles ever leave you.

Sorry can’t help with the discharge. Wishing you lots of luck and a healthy pregnancy xx

Congratulations on your baby boy! 🥂🍾 🍼

I can imagine I will be exactly the same if we’re lucky enough for everything to go according to plan 🤞🤞🤞

Thanks so much that’s really helped! I guessing it could be growing pains too as it’s that kind of ache rather than a pain as such! The midwife did mention the uterus stretching but growing pains is a good description! Xx

Congratulations! I got a lot of cramp like pains at the beginning of my pregnancies too. Felt like my period was coming! I would only be concerned about the cramping if it was accompanied by bright red bleeding. Otherwise it’s just your body making room for bubba to grow. I found deflatine helpful for any uncomfortable ‘gassy’ bloating you might be feeling and it’s safe to use during pregnancy.

Thanks so much I’ll def get some of that to see if it helps. I keep freaking out about the discharge (TMI sorry!) but trying to stay positive, it’s not really that noticeable it just because I inspect every wipe and it only happens when there is discharge, not at any other time. I think with the pain alongside your mind just goes into overdrive. Thanks again x

Amazing news. I had a little girl in January after 6 years of IVF so know exactly how you must be feeling. It sounds like you may be experiencing implantation pain and discharge which is totally normal in the very early stages of pregnancy.

If you are concerned though it might be worth giving your IVF clinic a call for reassurance.

CONGRATULATIONS xx
