Is there anyone in there??

I’m 7+6 today and have no symptoms. I very rarely have some stretching like pain but that’s about it, even my tiredness has gone in the last few days. I just don’t feel pregnant. No sore (or even growing!) boobs, no sickness - oh I do have a huge appetite right now but that could all be stress eating.

I had a scan at 6+6 on a very rubbish machine but the Dr seemed happy with what she saw and there was a good heartbeat. I sent it in to my IVF Dr and she was also happy with it so I try to tell myself to relax but just can’t.

How - without doing weekly scans - have you managed to stay reassured/calm/sane that there is something growing in there??

I didn't have any symptoms with my daughters pregnancy or in this pregnancy, I've never had any sickness, boobs never hurt or grew, the only thing I had was no period and a positive test (I did clear out the shop doing them because of the no symptoms) . I had a scan at 11 weeks with my daughter because I had some bleeding and everything was fine. This baby I've only had my 12 and 20 week scans, but I've got extra late scans due because I have gestational diabetes. You really don't have any way of knowing, but unless you've got bleeding or severe pain all you can do is take care of yourself and try and relax. Now at 20 weeks I can feel movement and that's reassuring, and I have a bit of a bump now, but that wasn't until about 18 weeks that I started showing.

I would just take advantage of feeling well at the moment because it can change really quickly especially as your only 7 weeks, you've still got a way to go through your first trimester and plenty of time for those hormones to stay making you feel awful. I never felt bad and almost felt guilty because apart from the diabetes I had none of the horrid stuff that people struggle with like sickness or SPD.

Congratulations on your pregnancy and hope you have a happy healthy pregnancy xx

Ah it’s very hard I know. I struggled with not knowing even with full on nausea and exhaustion in the first trimester. It’s never enough to even feel properly pregnant. Having said that, I have miscarried twice in the past and that really brings home how fragile everything is in the first trimester particularly.

I had lots of symptoms fluctuations. Whenever the symptoms disappeared for a few days, I would freak out. Sometimes I had to give in and have additional private scans. It all gets better when you can feel the baby moving! It was a complete turnaround for me to feel the movement and know there is an alive baby in there.

Good luck! I know it’s hard at this stage. And you may still get on and off symptoms.

I know what you mean, didn’t have any early symptoms either (except for tiredness), but it does leave you needing reassurance that everything is progressing ok. I’d probably book one private scan to bridge the gap between first heartbeat and the 12wk scan. I did that at 9wks and it was very reassuring.

Good luck!

Thanks for your replies. I think with having done IVF I’m so used to things going wrong that I’m just waiting for it now. And the more time that goes on, the more attached I become, and the more scared of losing everything... I can’t wait for the kicking stage to start! I have booked in for a reassurance scan today so fingers crossed it’s (still) good news ✨
