Hi all,

Hope all is well...

Just wanted some guidance really, I had my miracle baby nearly 10 weeks ago via emergency c section.

My question is when will I expect my period to return. I had a frozen ivf transfer and I have stage 4 endometriosis. I was expressing to bottles but I wasn’t getting much milk so I stopped expressing about 4 weeks after c section. My milk stopped a while back now so I have been waiting for my period but no return.

I am normally regular like clockwork even with endometriosis.

I stopped bleeding 3 weeks after c section and had nothing since.

Please can anyone advise when I may get my period?

Thanks 😊 xxx

Hiya, congrats on your miracle baby! I don’t think anyone can answer your question as literally could be anytime. Your hormones need to settle and start cycling again sometimes happens quickly, others not. I’ve had 3 births and got my period back at different times following each. I breastfed, 1st birth emergency csec period came at 6 months, though didn’t get another until 8 months, then were irregular until 18 months pp.2nd VBAC period returned 10 months and was regular from the get go. My twins were csec and are just 1 and no sign of anything yet. X

Thank you ❤️

Wow that’s mental! I didnt know it can take so long for your periods to return. It looks like it’s quite common. Sometimes I get cramps and feel like I’m going to come on and then nothing. 🤷‍♀️ looks like I will just have to ride it out and see what happens. Thanks for your information ❤️ xxx

I have pcos with really irregular periods and also same situation or c section and eventually gave up breast feeding after a week or so! I’m sure it was 2 months for me that I got the first period but I wouldn’t worry if that’s not the same for you as we are all so different and your body will just do it when it’s time xxx

Thanks for your advise. I think this might well be the case. I didn’t h derange it could take so much time to come back xxx

I've had three babies:1. Vaginal birth, period after 8 weeks

2. Vaginal birth, period after 10 weeks

3. Emergency section, period(?) After 7½ weeks

The reason for question mark is that the 'period' I had was so light (barely spotting) and was more like more of the end of the post-section bleeding than a fresh bleed. I would have thought it was just a bit more of that If it hadn't been a clear two weeks between the two and hadn't lasted 5 days, which is the typical length for my periods in recent years (gone are the days of the 12-14 day heavy monstrosities of my youth, thank god!) When I saw the doctor for the postnatal check up and he asked if I'd had a period I told him I wasn't sure and described it, he said it was. I guess time will tell - I'm now 11 weeks postnatal and not bled since so its looking like that was it - if my next period comes in about 3 to 7 days then it'll all make sense.

I hope you get your period in the next week like you said. It’s so hard work when you don’t know what is happening with your body. Is usually only class a period when it’s full flow so I can understand your frustration. I didn’t think it took so long for periods to return xxx

It’s 10 weeks for me tomorrow and I’ve only had the bleed after c section which last 3 weeks and nothing since 🤷‍♀️ xxx

Hi. Like the others have said, it tends to vary between women but whilst I don't have endometriosis, I had a similar situation to you around csec birth and then I expressed for 4 weeks after.

I got my period 6-7 weeks after I stopped expressing. They're not quite as regular as they were - I was solid 28 day cycle, now I go anything from 26 - 30 days and they're a lot heavier, but regular enough that I know when they're coming. Much more hormonal too!! :) my poor husband bears the brunt of my moods now!

Hope you get it soon so you can start to work out what your new normal is. Congrats on the birth. x
