Birth debrief 🙄

I just wondered if there is anyone who may have experienced a birth debrief following a traumatic delivery and whether you found this helpful? I am having one in a couple of weeks over the telephone. I am a little anxious about what to expect but i'm hoping it will help me process what happened and feel more reassurred about what to expect in terms of minimising any risk for postpartum haemorrhage for the future 🤞

Hi! Sorry to hear you had a traumatic birth! I did too and was all over the place for awhile! I didn’t book mine until my baby was 3 months old and I have to say it really did help. I got to voice my concerns too and actually felt like I was listened too. The woman I spoke to made me feel really reassured for if I have another baby. I hope it helps you out lovely xxx

It's never too late... I gave birth 19 months ago now and still having complications and treatment. HV said although the standard criteria is 4 months they may still see me and after she asked on my behalf... BOOM appointment arrived in the post. Take care, do PM me if you would like to chat xxx

Same. Wish I did too but you don’t really know the option exists x

It was my HV who suggested it 19 months on after giving birth so never too late. It may be worth asking your HV or GP for a letter to help support you in arranging one?

Hi, I had a debrief and it really helped me to process what happened. I wrote down a list of questions in advance so that I could make sure to get everything off of my chest. Before the meeting I sadly felt that I wouldn’t ever have another child because I couldn’t put myself through that again. The consultant gave me lots of reassurances and added into my notes some things that should hopefully help if I was to give birth again. I hope that you find some peace with your birth story & hopefully this meeting will help. X

I'm so sorry you had a difficult time but pleased to hear the debrief helped you. I plan on writing everything down... I do have a few unanswered questions that hopefully will give me some closure and reassurance. Thank you for taking the time to respond xxx

Yes I did. I found it helpful as I just couldn't get my head around many of the decisions that were made surrounding the birth. Talking to the consultant did make me feel less angry about the experience although it hasn't eased my mind enough to make me feel like I would go through it again to have another baby. I'm very sorry you also had a traumatic birth, it's so sad to lose that positive birth experience x

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I'm so sorry you had a difficult time too. I understand completely that things go wrong but i still feel angry about all the complications that has happened as a result of how i was managed. Hopefully it will give some answers. Take care xxx

It's so shocking to see how many other ladies have had traumatic birth experiences. I hope you find the debrief helpful and it answers some questions for you x

Thank you so much. Never thought 19 months on i'd still be having treatment for all the complications 😟 but i'm hoping this will be a positive experience 🤞
