Hi ladies... just wondered what you did for entertainment for baby’s 1st birthday. There won’t be loads of babies there but just wanted some idea in fun things to do? 😘😘

We hired soft play and it went down well. It was £85 and came with a ball pit. We also took other toys to the hall such as a rocking toy, little scooter/trike, push-alonger walker and some Happy Land stuff (mum in law got it second hand). We didn't do party games as felt she was too young. If you're hiring a hall I found the kids were just happy running around xx

We actually just did a party at home, we have lots of children in the family so it worked well. I thought it was added stress for me when he doesnt understand what is going on

Awww that’s nice... I live in a flat so that’s not possible as it’s quite small😬

My little one hasn't had his first birthday yet, but for my niece we went to a beautiful, historical park near my mum's house. We went to one of the smaller quiet fields, put some decorations in the trees, set up tables with food and laid down lots of picnic blankets. The children just played with nature, it was so gorgeous. But obviously you need to be lucky and have very good weather for this to work!

We just had family over to our house. Little man didn’t have a clue it was his birthday so we didn’t make much fuss. He was born in May so the weather was nice and we had food and drinks outdoors. He got a slide for his birthday so he just enjoyed playing on that!

Can’t believe he’ll be 2 soon! 😱 xx

That sounds nice and lovely... they don’t have a clue. I’ve hired a nice small hall so that all the family can come... 😘😘

Sounds fab. We have a very big garden but not a particularly big family so worked out fine having it at ours, but I can see why some families would need to hire somewhere!

As for entertainment I wouldn’t go overboard. Save the big plans for when they’re bigger and can understand. Just having chance for adults to have a chat and family to take it in turns spending time playing with baby is great. Gives you time to sit and have some food and drink in peace too (maybe a buffet?) cos everyone else wants to look after baby 👍🏻 I made him a photo album with loads of memories from his first year so people had a good look through that too. Thought I could just keep adding to it and it’d be more memorable than just buying toys.

Some balloons would probably be good - babies love those. My boy loves music so maybe putting on some tunes that baby likes as well xx

Last year we just went to the farm and had family round the following day x
