12 week screening

Hi I’m pregnant with my first child. I already got the appointment for the 12 week scan and don’t know if I’m going to get the results straight after the ultrasound or do I need to wait until my 16 week appointment with the midwife to get them? I’m doing the combined test though.

Anyone that can tell me about their experience?

We can’t wait to tell family and friends about it but want to wait until the scan is done and hopefully everything will be ok.

You won't get the results of the combined test straight away. They measure the nuchal fold during your scan, the afterwards you will be sent to have bloods taken. The measurements from your scan and the blood sample need to be sent off. The midwives should explain this to you as you go through everything. You will get your results through the post a few weeks later depending on whether or not there is a back log at the labs etc x

If all is well you will hear nothing for a while and your midwife will tell you your risk factor at your next appointment, no news is good news. My result was high risk and I had a phone call 48 hours after my test x
