When Should I Feel Movement

Hi, I’m currently 19+4 weeks and keep being told I should have felt some movement by now (quickening). I’m a first time mum and have felt nothing yet and am panicking slightly. Is this normal? Thank you x

Hi. It’s normal not to feel anything yet. I spoke to the Dr yesterday and she said for a 1st baby it’s normally around 20/22 weeks. Then it won’t be a lot just a few movements xx

You should start to feel movement between 16-24 weeks. Everyone is different. I think I was about 18 weeks when I realised I was feeling movements. I don’t think you need to worry just yet. I’ve also heard that it depends which way your baby is facing x x

I've been feeling 'flutters' for the past couple of weeks, I'm nearly 19 weeks but everyone is different and I think it depends how your placenta lies aswell. I too am a first time mum, so am now waiting for the proper kicks!! I wouldn't worry too much but if you're worried I'd just have a chat with your midwife they could just put the doppler on your tummy for your own peace of mind xx

I am 18 weeks pregnant and still haven't felt the kicks yet. It's my second pregnancy and I worry a lot! But my midwife says it's normal to not feel the movements yet.

I think that's really unfair of people to say you should have felt movement by now! Everyone is different and every pregnancy is different. You will start to feel something soon I'm sure! If your placenta is at the front it may take a few more weeks yet. And you may not get the flutters, you may just feel full on kicks and punches right away, I skipped the flutters bit totally! x

Thank you everyone, I feel a bit better that it’s ‘normal’. I have my scan on the 11th so that will put my mind at rest hopefully!

I skipped the flitters part too and started to feel what felt like something flicking or poking me from the inside around 22 weeks. My placenta is at the front and I still can’t feel anything at all where it is (29 weeks now).
