Got my letter in the post this morning, 1st scan 16th October. Really nervous and anxious.
What’s best to help with really sore boobs?
And also is “period type pain/cramp” normal in early stages?
TIA x

Hi, I was really anxious about my first scan too. I think it's natural to have some worries but try to focus on the positives. You will get to see your baby and that is wonderful and exciting!
As for sore boobs, I changed my bra to a softer one, which helped a bit, but mostly I just had to put up with it! Mine stopped hurting around 16 weeks, I think.
I had lots of period type pain and cramping in the early stages. I think it's normal as there is a lot going on, with lots of growing and stretching! But maybe speak to a doctor or midwife if you are concerned.
Hi Jessie
It’s so nerve wracking waiting for that first scan isn’t it. And every twinge, ache or pain is a source of worry but in the end I just tried to take one day at a time and celebrate getting through each one! (I’m still doing that now at 15 weeks).
I didn’t have sore boobs at all so I’m afraid I can’t help there but from my endless googling and research I’ve come to the conclusion that there is no ‘normal’ for symptoms!
The main rule I read over and again and tried to cling to about cramps though was that as long as they are not constant, more painful than a period or accompanied by bleeding then it’s likely to be perfectly ok. I drove myself mad trying to work out what every little twinge meant but I had to give up in the end as there is so much going on in there! As baby gets comfy inside your lining though, remember that’s the same lining that comes away in a period so those feelings are very similar - what you’re describing all sounds ‘normal’ to me.
Wishing you lots of luck for the scan and a healthy pregnancy x
