Spinal block

Anyone had spinal block?

I had mine nearly 5 months ago now and ever since I always wake up with such lower back pain, it’s exactly where I was numbed or from bra strap down.

It wears off once I’m up and moving, but it’s like I seize up in bed

I had a spinal block but never had any problems. I would speak to the GP as I guess you should all be back to normal now xx

It’s strange as I don’t get it every day, I was getting it when my period was due, so maybe I’m due in a few days (still all over the place) 🙄 x

I'm no anaesthesist but as far as I'm aware spinal blocks are given very low down on the spine in what is called the lumbar area... so nowhere your bra strap. Worth speaking to your gp but could well be a different cause for your pain

I know the spinal block is giving lower down, I was just saying that’s where the pain is from bra strap down as that’s where you are numb from bra strap down

Hi Annh, I've had quite a few spinal blocks for various operations over the years, and they are put in very low down in your spine, a little way up from your coccyx. The pain you say you're getting doesn't sound from my experience as if it's coming from the block, as once you're up and moving it wears off quite quickly, and there should be no lingering pain, etc. I think there's something different going on here that you might feel worth talking to your GP about. Hope you get some relief soon x

Yes, I do understand what you mean, but I don't think what you're feeling is from the block, not five months after the event. As I said before, I think it's maybe time for you to mention it to your GP, as I think there's a different reason for the pain you're feeling. Good luck x
