Hi ladies... quick question if anyone knows for sure. Say for example a friend of mine works in a hospital in a different city to me... can they access my medical records... for example if they work as a midwifery assistant... can they access my details if they have my hospital number etc?
Our medical records: Hi ladies... quick... - Pregnancy and Par...
Our medical records
I worked as a HCA & our trust policy was if we looked up anybody we were not directly caring for, we would get sacked. X
Oh ok.... but it was still easily accessible?
I’m not sure about records over different hospitals being easily accessible. I work in a GP surgery and we can’t see people’s records that aren’t registered with us but depends on areas and systems.
If anyone ever accessed something they shouldn’t they would be in serious trouble and sacked. It’s easy for staff to be checked up on for things like that x
No, each hospital holds their own records, if you were seen at her hospital in the past she could see that only - most paper records are destroyed after soo many years. X
I can ad: I was working in a scanning company and one of our biggest clients was NHS. We scanned all folders and files of each patient, many with explicit photos as well 😳 So, we destroyed the paperwork, but the data is somewhere held, but not sure where.
But try not to worry Destiny, I am sure the person you know should not want to get into a trouble for looking you up even if she could as there would be serious consequences.x
Unless the hospitals are the same trust they do not share data.
Different trusts use different electronic patient record systems so they may not be able to access your record. However, if they have access to the spine, it's possible they can access some informstion. However. It's a sackable offence and against trust policy to access anyone's medical records without valid reasons (such as providing care)
