When too drop last feed??

My LG is 4 1/2 months she sleeps through the night has 5 bottles during the day 6-7ozs.

Is it too early too drop her last feed which is at 9.30, people say too leave it where others say keep going for a bit longer.

I personally think it’s a bit too young, as means her bottles will drop to 4 and I don’t wanna be getting up during the night too do a feed.

Whatever suits your baby is best. She will probably let you know when she is ready to drop that feed (not waking for it or not finishing the bottle)

My little girl is 18 weeks old and has been having 4 bottles a day since 8 weeks old also 6-7oz so a bottle less per day than your little one. I had her weighed again today and she is still gaining weight accordingly and the healthy visitor was happy to have her weighed again in 4 weeks time. She loves her routine which is

8-9am - 7oz bottle

45min nap starting between 9.30-10am

12-12.30 - 6oz bottle

2.5hour nap starting between 12.45-1pm

4pm - 6oz bottle

Bath at 7pm (every other night)

7-30-8pm - 7oz bottle and bed by no later than 8pm

She then sleeps for 12hours.

I know we have been blessed with her. 🤞🏻🤞🏻 She is a very content baby

Yea see sometimes we do have too wake her for her last feed and at the moment she’s not finishing all her bottles.

My LG routine is

7-8.15am 6-7oz

1-2 hour sleep around 9-11

11am 6-7oz

1.30/2pm 6-7 oz

Will either sleep straight after that feed till 5.30 or will fight it till 4

5.45pn 6-7 oz

Playtime, bath at 7

Then will either be wide awake or will sleep, then 6-7 oz at 9.30.

Then she’s in bed by 10.30, asleep by 11.

She will sleep all night, maybe just need 1 nappy change about 3-4am.

She’s going through the sleep regression at the moment. I am happy with our routine, I just didn’t know if we should maybe try putting her too bed without that feed and see how we go.

She’s gaining enough weight, when she was weighed last time she was 15.7.

We have been very lucky aswell, she only got up twice for 1st 5 weeks for a feed and then once for 1 week, then slept all night from then. X

Your little one is a great sleeper too then. 👍👍 Makes such a difference doesn’t it! My sisters are all astonished that my little one sleeps so well as their children didn't sleep through the night for a long time however, they were breastfeeding and I think it’s harder to get a breastfeed baby to sleep through the night.

Your routine is similar to mine, the main difference being your little one seems to feed after shorter periods in the day time. Maybe as she grows she will push those feeds back a bit which would then allow your 3rd and 4th bottle to be an hour later each which would push the 4th bottle closer to 8pm and perhaps allowing her to go all night from then.

If you are happy with your routine then just continue with that and your little one I’m sure will decide when she is ready to drop that feed. 👌🏻

My little is is the same age as yours I think and she weighed 12lb 10oz yesterday so your wee one is a great size. My one has always been between the 9th and 25th centile so they are happy she is continuing to follow that curve.

I think she would go a little bit longer in the days, I’m just scared if we cut the feeds down, she will start waking in the night, I am not ready too go back too that 😂 x

My lo stopped having a 5th bottle when he started to go 4 hours between them. But he does have a 5th bottle on a sunday because we go swimming and he is starving afterwards! Lol

Babies change their feeding patterns all the time so I wouldnt worry too much about how many times a day etc, one day she may want more than another. In the same way that adults we might snack more one day than another day. She might want a small amount of milk at one feed, and a larger feed anotehr time. Also in the warm weather its important babies stay hydrated and arent going too long between feeds. If you think as an adult we probably dont go more than a couple of hours without a drink. So yes 4 times a day would not be much - I know I couldnt go that long without food or drink! If she doesnt want to finish a bottle it doesnt matter, Id just let her drink what she wants at that particular time, and then she might want some more an hour or two later - or might not.

Also babies have lots of changing sleeps patterns and growth spurts so you may find she gets up in the night in days/weeks/months to come and wants a feed so I wouldnt worry too much about what shes doing right now, just enjoy it while it lasts!x
