No idea what I’m doing - scared

Hi Everyone,

My periods have been irregular since they started and I’m now 31! My partner and I were trying for a baby but nothing happened - I just got on with life.

Earlier this month we went to the Isle of Wight fest and I didn’t feel right at all. My period was “late” (36 days) but it’s not uncommon for me to go up to 52 days.

We did two tests and both were positive. We are over the moon.

I’m now terrified though. I have a Drs phobia but know I have to go.

Plucked up the courage and went to register to one closer to home. I mentioned I had a positive test and wanted to book appointment and was handed a leaflet for a maternity line and she said “they won’t usually see you until 8 weeks”.

After 2 days of phoning, I got through to a midwife. I told her that I wasn’t certain of my dates and she said that was ok. A few minutes later she said there were no appointments available until the end of July which may be too late. I’ve left it that another community midwife will be calling me (this was yesterday at 4pm).

This is my first baby so I have no idea what normal practice is...

Can someone offer their thoughts please,

Thank you,

H x

When you say 36 days late when soss your period fall on? That's how midwife will calculate. It doesnt really matter If you are not seen at 8 weeks as all they do is booking and some bloods. First ultrasound is 12weeks. I was seen at 12 weeks for my first for everything. Have a read of NHS choice for advice re. What to eat and what vitamins you should be taking

Sorry for being a bit unclear, rubbish at explaining things 🙈.

I meant my cycle length had got up to 36 days-ish but I can’t remember the exact date I last came on.

My cycle can be anywhere between 23-56 days so I thought my chances of falling pregnant were impossible.

Thank you for your advice re: NHS, I’ve started taking pregnacare tablets and avoiding the bad foods 🙂
