My little boy is 12 months old and was exclusively breastfed from birth. He’s now also on 3 meals a day. I still breastfeed him in the morning and evening but he has some formula during the day (it varies how much he will take) as he’s now at nursery 3 days a week.
Recently he’s started getting very upset after he’s been breastfed, really crying hard and taking quite a few minutes to settle and I can’t work out what the problem is?! He happily accepts the feed and seems fine whilst he’s feeding but it’s almost as if he’s got really bad wind or something afterwards. Has anyone else had this issue? It just seems odd for him to start getting such bad wind or reflux after every feed when he’s been breastfed for his whole life!
He’s also started to have tantrums when he gets his clothes or nappy changed but I think this is just him asserting himself, as he’s always fine straight after when he goes off to play. Maybe this is similar and he’s just getting cross that the milk is being taken away after the feed, even though he seems to stop when he’s finished.
It’s made me question for the first time whether he’s not getting enough and getting frustrated. He’s otherwise happy and I don’t think he’d be too fussed if I stopped breastfeeding him now tbh. Just wondered if others had experienced the same and whether there are any suggestions as to what might be the issue? Thanks x
