Breastfeeding and pumping before baby arrives?

Hi.

I am having a planned c-section due to placenta previa. I’m not sure on what week this will be yet. My consultant appt is the beginning of June.

I am hoping to breastfeed so have been advised by a midwife to start pumping from 36 weeks to help bring in the milk ready for when baby arrives. Does anyone have any opinions or experience on this?

Thanks x

I was told not to pump before baby arrives but maybe that was just my Midwife’s advice. I did however hand express from 37 weeks as I was booked in for an induction at 37+5 as it turned out the induction failed so I had a c section at 38+1. I had a good supply of colostrum and my milk came in 2 days later which they told me was quick for a c section xx
