Continuous discomfort

Hi all. I'm 8 weeks, it's my first pregnancy. Its taken over 2 years for me to get pregnant. For the last 4 weeks I have felt a lot, and I am just worried it's not normal. I feel sick nearly every hour of the day, I am constipated about 75% of the time, and I am feeling twinges and cramps all the time. The last 2 weeks in particular I have felt in discomfort ALL the time. I can't even walk around the supermarket without feeling overwhelmed by the stirrings in my abdomen and with tiredness. I wouldn't describe it as pain, just discomfort, but I dont see pregnant women around me bound to bed rest in their first trimesters. I haven't had any bleeding or spotting, but I haven't had my first midwife appointment either. Has anyone else experienced similar in their first trimester?

Hi, this absolutely normal and in a way good sing as it’s means the pregnancy is progressing . For the fist 13 weeks I have felt like someone has taken all the life out of me. I could have a full night of sleep and by the time I had shower and went downstairs I had to lie down as I had no energy. Sickness was all the time 24/7 and nothing helped. I know others who has been going through the same so it is very normal. Thinking back I have no idea how I managed to function and work full time. I am very lucky as my husband take care of the house etc so when I was not working I was on bed rest. The good news after 13 weeks it passed away and it happened very random when I just wake up in a morning and felt so much better. So few more weeks and you should feel better!

Until I wasn’t about 18 weeks the first trimester floored me.

I think society has glamorised early pregnancy through the joy of being pregnant, lovely pictures of women holding their hair back and just describing symptoms as ‘morning sickness’. This was not the case for me and after researching for many many women.

However the rumours are true and it’ll will generally start to ease in the second trimester where you feel more normal and can resume life again!

One day at a time.

These all sound absolutely normal hun 💛 I got off light in first tm nausea-wise, but the fatigue floored me for weeks! Always napping - loads of time laid out on the sofa. All you can do is listen to your body & rest when needed.

I’m 14+2 now - aching has become stronger - I get what you mean about being hard to describe how it feels xxx

I’m the exact same at 8weeks too! Forcing myself to get up and work through the tiredness. I have all the same symptoms as well. I’ve just taken it as a good sign and my body is making room and doing everything it needs to do. Still exhausting tho. Nice to know I’m not the only one struggling! Xx

This is exactly how I felt when I first got pregnant! Lots of women are bed-bound and exhausted (we just mostly keep it as secret in those first few weeks).

I am second trimester now and was constantly cramping from before my period was due up until 8/10 weeks and all is healthy.

Hope you feel better! Xx

I feel exactly the same at 9 weeks. The last 3 have been hell! Constipated, heartburn, nauseous and throwing up pretty much every day. All i do is sleep and even then its not restful. I am now on lactolase and you can buy over the counter at pharmacy. It helps your bowels ans to feel more regular. Only on day 2 so trying to see how it goes. You are not alone xxx
