Just returned from the hospital after having lower pelvic pain and some brown discharge. I’m 17 weeks and this is our 2nd try at IVF. So anxious at the pain and discharge after a long time trying to conceive midwife suggested we go to A&E to check it out.
After an exam, cervix was closed and they put it down to maybe a water infection. I asked for some reassurance the baby was ok so they agreed to scan me. During the scan we saw the heartbeat but the gynae also spotted what he thought was a haematoma behind the placenta. I’ve been advised to take time off work and rest. Has anyone had this and had a healthy pregnancy? I’m trying hard to be positive and relax and not to go mad on bed rest. Anyone who has some advice or similar experience would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance x

I haven't personally experienced this, but my friend had a haematoma in the first trimester and it went away on it's own. Her baby is now 18 months and very healthy. Good Luck!
Thank you for responding, it’s nice to hear positive stories! Thank you, glad to hear her little one was all ok. Fingers cross it will sort itself out. X
Hi Em. Have not been in this exact situation but had quite a large unexplained bleed at 14 weeks. It lasted about a week before it completely stopped. I was so anxious and convinced that I was having a miscarriage but I’m currently 23 weeks and have had no further bleeding. Take care x
That’s amazing you’re nearly 6 months! Thanks for replying, it’s such an anxious time. Did you ever have an explanation for the bleed? Hope the next 3 month pass by without a hitch. X
