12 weeks pregnant , best sleeping position

What is the best sleeping position? Is it ok to sleep in your front at this stage in pregnancy? X

Week 12 and onwards sleep on your left is recommended, I'm 9 weeks I started sleeping on my left to get used to it before I reach the second trimester. X

I was told sleep position only matters in third trimester and my consultant told me that sleeping on your front is safe for as long as you are able to do it (which won’t be forever) because baby is so well padded in his/her sac.

At this stage it should be fine although if you sleep on your front all the time it might be worth starting to ‘practise’ sleeping on your side ready for when you can’t go on your front anymore.

At the end of your pregnancy you’ll probably be waking up in the night to go to the toilet anyway so last thing you need is to have to sleep in a position that’s unnatural for you as well! 😂 x

I think you can sleep in any position that you’re comfortable in until you reach 28 weeks when you have to go to sleep on your side. I did the same as Sassa suggested though and started sleeping on my side very early on in my pregnancy to get used to it. As my bump grew I invested in a dream genii pillow to keep me on my side and it’s been my best pregnancy buy! It can be used as a feeding pillow once baby is here. If I were you I’d sleep in my most favourite position still at 12 weeks. Only once your bump gets in the way or you feel uncomfortable change and start sleeping on the side.
