Constipation- Anyone know what I can take to ease this?
Hi
Congratulations on your pregnancy xx
Theres quite a few of us suffering from it....its become the 'norm'. You can take lactlose from the chemist or fybogel sachets (available from supermarkets) the latter seems to work for me. A friend suggested flaxseed/linseed on your cereal or yogurt etc. Have a high fibre diet and go for walks. This should help xx
Prunes, prune juice, loads of greens, lots of water x
Brussel sprouts 🤣
Thanks cam for reminding of the water!
😉🤣
In all seriousness I am quite good at drinking water, and I really notice it when I don't have enough. That's when my symptoms are worse and I start to feel weird. X
Prune juice works well and lots of fibre xx
I got pile in the middle of my pregnancy (20weeks) and farmacies mention that I must be dehydrated and not drinking enough water, which is true during that short period due to stress at work. Remember to drink plenty of water.
Hi gem
Hope you managed to resolve it as I see this was posted a while ago.
But just in case or for others reading
Magensium citrate works really well. Similar to lactulose as it draws water into your intestine but is safe to use during pregnancy as it's a mineral
It also works brilliantly for nerve and muscle pain especially restless legs and things we get during pregnancy and of course for hydration as it's an electrolyte like potassium.
It used to be a traditional remedy for indigestion (milk of magnesia) and for fluid retention (epsom salts) and a vast array of other things
Many of us are deficient in it anyway and it is vital for good vit D absorption and utilisation of calcium in the body
So you may find all round it's the best solution especially during the winter too.
You can take magensium citrate (diff varieties can have slightly different effects on digestion) a magnesium.bath or foot bath or buy it in an oil spray to rub on your skin
Hope this helps xx
Fybogel works a treat. Comes in sachets and available in Supermarkets and chemists x
Prunes in the morning before eating anything else.
