Has anyone else had this and can reassure me? For a few days now baby has episodes of really fast, shuddering-type movements. It can happen a few times a day. It’s like they are shaking really fast - almost like fitting!! It’s really disconcerting and I’m a bit worried. They do have lots of standard normal movements too.
I am 33 weeks xx

Hi. Yes it still doesn’t seem real although I know it obviously is. I can’t quite believe that on 5th round and after missed miscarriage, and the whole journey prior, that my dream to be a mum might actually come true.
My pregnancy is going well other than my precious cargo has given me gestational diabetes, that’s the only thing. Everything else seems fine. Likely due to the above that they will induce me around 38 weeks which will bring my due date to 26th Jan (currently 9th Feb).
Do you know if you having pink or blue ?
We haven’t found out.
Hope you get the answer to your question and the everything is ok. Good luck in these last weeks x
I am due 20th Jan but might be taken a 1-2 weeks early, with the IVF /donor egg factor, my BP has also been on the high side - I’m on medication - and baby is measuring big. I’m back at consultant 7th Jan to decide what’s happening. The high BP is the only real issue I’ve had and even then it’s not caused any problems so far. I had 3 weeks of bleeding in first trimester which was terrifying so in comparison to that the rest has been a breeze 😆.
We haven’t found out if it’s pink or blue either, felt with what it’s taken to get here that the extra surprise would be lovely. It’s killing me not knowing though, but I’m convinced it’s a boy hehe.
Your bub might come on my own birthday (26/01) 😊 Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.
Maybe phone your midwife or the hospital number and ask. I had lots of weird movements but she was breech. At 33 weeks give got a significant sized baby there so could it be hiccups, coughs, playing with the cord?
Thanks, yeh I had thought about playing with the cord. I know the hiccups and this is different. We had a growth scan last week and all was well so I’m probably being paranoid. It wasn’t breech either. xx
If it’s any reassurance to you I experienced the same feelings, at about the same time as you, when I was pregnant with my daughter. It really unnerved me but I was told it could be her hand or foot getting caught in the cord. She’s now a healthy 5 month old. If ever you’re worried just phone for some reassurance, that’s what I did otherwise I would just worry myself sick! Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy xx
Thanks Lou9, yeh seeing online also that if not them untangling foot/hand it could also be little shakes to do with the development of their central nervous system. Thanks for your reply xx
Hi weemrsh. I was a fellow fertility network user so thrilled you made the transition! I had this quite a lot in later pregnancy and it really unnerved me, especially after looking at Dr Google. I now have a very healthy 3 month old little boy so turns out was just one of those many things sent to worry us! Xx
I have this under my ribs. No idea what it is but when I googled it seems it’s quite normal. I haven’t had it recently as the baby has got bigger and (I assume) more squashed!
I’ve found on reading that it could be baby shaking off the cord if caught round an arm/leg, or to do with the development of their nervous system. Makes sense and relieved others have had the same thing. Hope you’re doing well x
I had this too and spent ages Googling it! It's a difficult thing to explain in words. I asked my midwife about it as well but she said it was probably hiccups or kicking but I knew what those things felt like and this was different.
Anyway I never got to the bottom of it but I was reassured after a lot of searching that it was normal and my baby is now a very healthy almost 6 month old Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!
Obviously if you’re concerned talk to your midwife or doctor...
But I just wanted to reassure you a little bit. I had the same with my first and was so concerned as it happened often, but never when anyone felt my tummy so I was the only one who had felt it. I tried explaining it to my mum and she struggled it off not knowing what I meant, you explained it so much better than me! However she felt it once and said it was really weird. I started crying thinking my baby was going to have fits when she was born and she wasn’t going to have the safety of being hooked to my internal life support.
HOWEVER!!!! I felt these weird movements all the way up to labour fairly regularly (maybe once or twice a day) and she was born a perfectly healthy baby with no problems. She’s now nearly 5 years old and hasn’t had any medical problems at all. I’m not sure what her little shakes in the uterus was about but we haven’t had any signs to show she’s not a healthy happy child xx
