So I am 26 weeks, over the last few days I’ve noticed the baby’s movement routine has changed slightly and is becoming a lot more active late afternoon and early evening whereas before I used to get a few kicks first thing, which seem to have stopped. Like if I got up for a wee I’d feel a few kicks once i got back into bed.
The movement is a bit fainter as well but today I have felt more rolls against my stomach rather than kicks and could actually feel the back or the head rolling against my hand.
Does the type of movement change as the pregnancy progresses? I use the kicks count app and I’m still getting the same amount of movement each day it’s the sensation that’s changed. Is this normal?
I feel that monitoring the movement is turning me slightly neurotic! I always thought it would be really obvious and that I would know if movements weren’t right and I would phone the midwife but I keep second guessing myself.
Thanks. X

I noticed around 26 weeks that my pattern changed, I use to get a lot of movements early evening and in the night whereas now I’m getting a lot more throughout the day. I went into hospital twice with reduced movements and the midwife said patterns can change up to around 28 weeks and it can be worrying when they do but is normal. She also said the further you get on the feeling of movements can change, I’m nearly 29 weeks and I’ve definitely noticed different feelings recently. I know exactly what you mean, I thought movements would re assure me but they seem to be making me even more anxious x
Thanks E_05 and Kempton it’s so hard all the information you get just says to get to know what’s normal but do they mean the time of day or the overall number or both?! As my overall number hasn’t changed just the time of day and I put it down to them sitting in a different position as to why it’s a bit fainter. It’s all a bit confusing. Lol. It’s so nice feeling the movement but it’s a bit stressful trying to work out what’s normal and what isn’t! 🙈 x
I always thought that I would relax more when I could start to feel baby move but I think it made me so much more anxious. I found it so hard to monitor as she didn’t ever seem to have a pattern. Counting kicks also really stressed me out so I deleted the app xx
I know I thought I would relax more as well. I can see how the app could stress you out. It does me every so often but overall I find it mainly reassuring. Xx
I'm 26wks as well. But from 24wks I first discovered baby moved first thing in the morning then again around lunch time and then last thing at night. But now it can be when ever especially if she's feeling squished lol so if I'm lying down or trying to get my trousers and socks on she's off. I haven't started counting kicks yet but I will start that very soon as it has changed. She now kicks if I rest my arm on my tummy or if I'm laying on my bed but perched up right and when I'm laying down to sleep. I have also felt her rolling around now and she can give an almighty boot. I'm sure I've read that as long as you get a certain amount of kicks in an hour everything is fine. X
I'm 25 weeks. I've not gone down the road of monitoring movementwith apps or anything as such - just as long as I'm feeling them, then that's fine with me!! I know I;d go a bit mad with the monitoring!!!
I do generally tend to feel more as the day goes on. Some days are "quieter" than others but again, as long as I get movement I'm fine. Movements are also getting a lot more definite now which is lovely!!
Midwife this week basically said as long as baby s moving that's the main thing - and emphasised to get in touch if movement stops.
