Hi all

We decided to have a 3rd baby so took away my IUD , got my period and ... after that DONE ! pregnant. I am so happy

However I am very worried about how much will the maternity cost me ? I am not from UK so I do't know how it works here

Please can someone reassure me as we are not very rich so... I am very worried

Tks Sisi14. Yes I am working and have insurance. But they seems to say that midwife and any treatment related to the pregnancy are not covered in my plan. Except if there is complication :(

I emailed back and asked for the maternity costs as maybe they misunderstood my question.

In the uk if you have been with an employer for more than 6 months you get maternity pay either satuary pay or full from employment. Also you get time off for antenatal appointments !

Do you pay for gp visits etc x

oki. No I don't pay for GP visits. I started this new job in May so very new... I don't want to go for private midwife or anything like that.

thanks for your answer Sisi

You should qualify for maternity pay but I don’t know where you live xx

If you are legally permanent resident have you checked if you get NHS treatment for free? I would check. Some people pay extra on their Visa to get this. If you are from the eu ot should also be free.

As for maternity check with citizens advice bureau and Gov.uk

You or work should have a family policy so ask for this

Tks toxannaxar.

Yes I’m from EU. I will double check just to make sure so I can enjoy every day of this adventure....

Have a read of this too

nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/nhs-se...

This means you would be eligible to NHS midwife hospital etc as everyone else.

I'm from the eu, I'm now citizen but wasnt when I had my first child. There were no issues what so ever from a health care point of view.

ThNk you very much ladies 😘😘😘😘

It depends on where you are from- if from an EEA (like the EU) country then you should get your treatment under the NHS.

See this link maternityaction.org.uk/advi...

Often private insurance will not cover maternity care as standard.

Hi naty! Congratulations on your new addition to the family.. you should be ok regarding the maternity, I had my baby last year in here and I'm from Portugal, after your visit to the midwife you fill up some papers and get an exemption maternity card which is also for dentists or other treatments you may need regarding pregnancy all with the nhs. Good luck
