I have just found out I am pregnant and have been told to avoid, in addition to those foods normally mentioned, lemons, almonds and pearl barley. Does anyone have any comments about these foods?

Firstly, congratulations! Everything apart from the ones mentioned not eat are perfectly safe to eat in a balanced amount. I never heard about not eating lemon! I usually limit the amount of warming foods such as nuts and ginger. As they raise body temperature and it’s not good for baby to get too warm. Plus- no hot showers! Here’s a link or cold and warm foods

Good luck!
Never heard of having to avoid those 3, I’ve had loads of almonds and foods with almonds in so hoping that’s not true 😅 also heard lemon was really good during pregnancy - but the advice changes all the time. I’d be interested to know the reasoning behind avoiding them
Told by who?
Congratulations on your pregnancy. I generally go by the nhs website and it doesn't say that these foods should be avoided. I eat nuts, particulaly almonds, and lemon on an almost daily basis and I'm 20 weeks pregnant.
