I had an early scan today as I’d experienced some bleeding earlier in the week. I went in thinking I was around 7+6, but the scan was showing up much smaller (but with a heartbeat!) putting it around the 6 week mark instead.
Very happy (and relieved) to see a heartbeat, but feel ridiculously disheartened by going back almost 2 weeks (also struggling to get my head around the timelines!)
Has anyone had any experience of this? I know I just have to take each day at a time, just feel like I’ve gone back 2 weeks and it’s frustrating!
Thanks!

I had a similar experience where I went for an early scan at what I thought was 8 weeks (I knew the exact date of my last period, the date of conception, etc) but they said I was measuring more like 6 weeks. They told me that sometimes that happens and that implantation can take a while, and that often by the 12 week scan the growth catches up a bit too so the gap may not be as big and they told me not to worry (easier said than done).
Anyway, I had my next scan at 12+6 and I was measuring 12+1 so the 2 week gap had definitely closed somewhat and everything is looking really good and healthy. So my advice to you is that they saw a heartbeat which is fantastic, so focus on that as the positive and then see how your dates are at the 12 week scan. Just like after we’re born, we all develop at different rates but we all catch up in the end xx
