Hello, i am 37 weeks pregnant and had to go to have a growth scan on Friday. Everything was fine with baby but theu said there was more fluid around him than they would like. The doctor said to me if my waters break i should go on all 4's and stick my bum in the air and call 999!! She didn't explain anymore to me. Has anyone else had this problem? If so can you give me some advice that you recieved please as it's made me worried for birth now.

Thank you

Hi, I'm 30 weeks and found out last week I've got polyhydramnios too. I've been given no official advice from medical professionals, but have found out through my own research that it can cause early labour, so maybe they are referring to this? Are you experiencing a lot of braxton hicks or a really tight, hard bump all the time? I'm finding this pregnancy really difficult due to the fact my bump is so high and hard all the time. It feels like a corset over my lungs.

I had poly and was very casually given this advice by my midwife but not the consultant who booked me in for an induction! Due to excess fluid, if your waters break outside of hospital then there are risks that can occur - which is why I was induced at 39 weeks. You don't need to worry about the birth at all, it is likely they will run tests to determine the cause - there didn't seem to be any reason for my extra fluid and it didn't negatively affect my pregnancy whatsoever. Please let me know if I can answer any questions or offer any reassurance! Enjoy your pregnancy and try not to let this worry you x

Hi I have been for a scan today and have been told that I have to much fluid around my baby but they have not told me anything else. They took some blood and said it was a torch test to make sure there is no infection. Was you told what your fluid levels were? Did you go on to have a normal birth or did you have any problems?
