I've just had my second consultant appointment at 22 weeks. This is the second consultant i've seen. Im under consultant led care as I had to have an emergency c section with my daughter at 14 days overdue. The consultant saw me for all of 2 minutes and did no observations. A nurse did, however, check my bp and tested urine. The consultant said he wanted to see me at 32 weeks and 37 weeks and we would book a c section date. He walked me back round to the reception and said all this to the receptionist.
The receptionist tried to book me an appointment, but there are literally no appointments available. Im on the gap program and have been booked a scan review after my scan instead of a consultant appointment at 31 weeks, and the receptionist said hopefully there will be some cancellations by the time I'm 37 weeks.
My concern is that this is obviously not consultant led care. What happens if no further appointments are cancelled, so no appointments become available?

Hmm it’s not very reassuring for you I’m sure, do you have a community midwife too? I’m consultant led for the second time with baby 3, the clinics are always busy and run late but they do spend time with you where needed. It is normal for nurse/midwives to do the obs for you. I’d keep ringing on a weekly basis to check for the cancellation x
I was also in consultant led for having tiny babies.. and it sounds very much the same situation I was in. They did make a new appointment for me pretty quickly however it was never on the week I was supposed to see them. And never the same consultant. I didn't understand why they bothered. As my doctor and midwife were more on the ball tbh.
Congratulations and all the best to you and your family x
Thank you. I decided to contact PALS on monday night. By tuesday afternoon i had a missed message from the secretary of my consultant saying she will investigate and try to sort out my appointments. So definitely worth contacting PALS if ever you have a concern or issue!
