My LO is 10 months old now. He is very picky on food. I want to make dinner time a fun time but he hates sitting in his chair and eating. My husband and I do all weird things to keep him engaged so he can eat a little bit but it takes so much effort that by the end of it we get exhausted. This is even if we try to feed him his favourite food. May be this is a common problem but I want to know how other parents deal with this issue.
Thanks,
Kaly

We used a high chair that sat them at the same table as us. We did baby led weaning, so they ate food from our plate which made us eat more healthily. With my first I didn’t eat with her and she ate well to begin with but as she got older it became more tricky whereas with our second child I ate with both children and he ate much better.
Remember babies get most of their nutrients from their milk until they are over 12 months old - food is for fun until they are one!
Relax, put a variety of food in front of him and let him explore it, play with it and if he eats it, it’s a bonus. Enjoy weaning, it’s messy but fun. If you want to learn more about Baby led weaning, I recommend the book Baby-Led aweaning by Gill Rapley it gave me confidence and understanding of what to do and why I was doing it.
Try not fuss too much it tends to be counter active. Also depending on how much milk he has the food might be more for a taster than actual calorie need
