Hi all just need a little information! I had my first scan today and was told that I’m eight weeks but have been referred for a second scan next week as they believe it is twins...

Has anyone had an internal scan before? I just want to get my head around the procedure to settle my nerves.

Are you sure they going to do an internal scan? At 10 weeks might not be necessary. They probably will start with tummy scan and only proceed if needs be.

As for internal scan, it's a bit like having a smear... I would say a bit uncomfortable but nothing major ... definitely much easier than having a baby 😋

Yeah both of the lovely nurses who did my tummy scan today said I’d need an internal scan next week. As long as it’s nothing to worry about I should be fine, had just about wrapped my head around one baby, I’ll tough it out 😋

Trans vaginal ultrasound it’ll be, they just lube up a probe which doesn’t go far inside and doesn’t hurt at all it’s easier for them to see.

I have a fear of internals but the transvaginal Scan is really not that bad it can be a little uncomfortable when they insert the probe bit once it’s in it’s not too bad at all x

internal scans aren't bad at all and you should get some great pics from it, so much clearer than normal scans early on. Just try to relax x

Internal scan is not painful, easier than smear test and if you ask, you can insert the probe yourself if you are nervous. The probe does not go in much and ask for lots of lube - you will be fine x
