I've just found out im pregnant. Im yet to still see my GP. I am currently 4-5 weeks pregnant

But does anyone know at which week do you have your first scan.

Im going abroad for a month in March so i wanted to ideally have my first scan before i leave.

Thanks in advance.

If you're in the UK you probably won't see your GP, you'll be told to refer yourself to your midwife unit. You'll have a booking in appointment with them at between 8/10 weeks to collect your green book and have blood tests done. Your first scan is around 12 weeks.

Have a look through the NHS pregnancy pages there's lots of information on your pregnancy journey on here. nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy...

Thank you!

As above you won’t need to see your GP. Have a look on your local hospital website as I was able to self refer that way xx

Your first scan if you’re in the UK will be at 12 weeks (dating scan) and then at 20 you have your anomaly scan to check baby is A-OK. You can pay for private scans (around £40-100) from 6 weeks onwards for peace of mind if you can’t wait. We did, just to check that baby was growing where he was supposed to.

If you’re high risk you may also have a scan earlier.

Make sure your not going to a Zika zone and have travel insurance that covers you whilst pregnant

Hope you're going somewhere nice in March!

The first official scan is the dating scan which can happen between 11-13 weeks.

I paid for a private early scan as I had a bleed early on and found out I was having twins so if you ever want reasurrance then you could do that.

You'll also have your booking appointment with the midwife at around 10 weeks to discuss the medical history etc.

Hope that helps! X
