Have you tried teething gel to see if it helps? You also try calpol but wouldn't use it regularly

It is perfectly normal for babies to go through this sleep pattern phase, its tough on us and sleep when baby sleeps is the best advice I can give you. Get someone else to have baby during the day so you can have a nap. Sleep deprivation is a form of torture, so enlist help to make sure you get some sleep.

Some books to help you understand babies sleep: amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00SRX...

And this might have some ideas that work for you: amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/007138...

Good luck! You will survive. My two went through this, they are 5 and 3 now and generally sleep through now (except when they're sick or wet the bed). Xxx

My little boy was an amazing sleeper for the first 10weeks then it went down hill! So I don’t have much advice other than get help in the day if that’s available to you. And ride it out, my son had a bottle in the night till he was 14months old. So I clearly went wrong somewhere. I’ve heard the myhummy white noise teddy’s are amazing! The have sensors so turns on and soothes baby before they fully get a chance to wake. The only thing I would say is don’t give bottles every time he wakes like I did because it they becomes a habit and they start waking for those bottles. But from a mother that got it very wrong all I can say is it’ll get better. Good luck. Calprofen is also fab during teething. A bit stronger than just calpol so keeps them comfier for longer.

Can I ask why you want to stop the night bottle? 5 months is very little still and some babies still need night feeds up to 12 months (I'm sure my milk monster will be one of those babies..) Or do you mean a bottle in between midnight and 5/6? does he still have the "dream feed" ? I hope this didn't come aceoss judgey - I was just thinking because of the sleep regression and teething etc it might be hard on you guys to cut a night feed on top of all the rest you're going through at the moment!

ps: had my gallbladder out a couple years ago and it was the best thing ever!! You'll get a whole new lease on life, gallstones are absolutely awful I feel your pain!

Hi I meant the bottle between 12 and 5/6 he does have the dream feed but not every night we think we may have cracked it but introducing pureed food ( I know it's abit early) and a bottle at 9:30 but he finally slept through from 10until 6am which is great. Helped me alot I can't wait to have the op done to remove it as you know the pain is worse than labour I said to my partner I would rather go through labour again than this pain on and off hopefully we may be getting out of this sleep pattern xx

Hello

My advice is don’t see it as broken and lean into it. He will grow out of it but lots of babies don’t sleep through the night so don’t torture yourself waiting for it and then one day he will surprise you!

Things that can help: Consistent bedtime routine, making sure he is napping in the day, and listening to baby - if he’s really tired by the time you put him down then move bedtime, and that might change as he gets older and napping changes.

If you don’t see any improvements there is sleep training you can do but personally I wouldn’t until at least 12 months.

Good luck xx

Hi we do a bedtime routine with him now but it might be a good idea to fit it around when he's asleep more he's not been to bad the past night he slept from 10 until 6 but we are definitely going into it with eyes open now and just taking things day by day but sticking to a bed routine has helped and changing his feed times has also helped thankyou xxx
