I just want some advice. What are the symptoms of prenatal depression?
(I'm 16 wks and 5 days) I rarely eat and when I do it's only alittle, I just feel sad all the time, tired and not taking my folic acid and just not taking care of myself in general.
I love my baby and my baby is my world and i don't want to hurt my baby but I just feel like I can't look after myself..
I have a midwife appointment tomorrow and I'm not to sure if I should mention it?
Thanks in advance

Hello! Congratulations on your baby! I think you should tell your midwife about your feelings, she should be able to help you... and if you should talk with someone close to you as well, so if you feel blue someone can take care of you... sometimes the only thing we need is to talk about it. There's something in your mind that it's making you feel like that.. maybe you just have to let it out with someone you trust.
I hope you feel better soon and enjoy your pregnancy! Soon you will see your baby and that brings so much happy
Hi. A couple of days ago I wrote about perinatal depression and anxiety which is what I’m going through at 37 weeks. It’s been creeping up on me for a while.
Best thing to do is discuss your feelings with the midwife, they can offer medication and/or counselling. Catching it early is a really good thing as it gives you more options.
Hello! Yes definitely mention it. I haven't suffered with pre natal but post natal and like you, nothing towards my children. It's the opposite and being anxious. Your midwife will be able to give advice or keep in touch with you to see how you are feeling and point you in the direction of help if needed. It's very common. Hormones are all over the place! Us women go through so much with our hormones!!
Hiya I have antenatal depression now, I’m 11 + 3. I felt dreadful, just sad and down all the time so I saw my GP, I’m taking citalopram for it now and feels look loads better. Don’t suffer, it’s really common and is easily treated. My midwife is aware and says I can go see her or call her whenever I need for a chat or moan or whatever. Treating it now also puts you in a better position postnatally too. I hope you feel better ASAP hun xxx
Hello, just wanted to say you're not on your own with this one. I got diagnosed with severe anxiety and depression at 18wks after suffering for weeks and weeks. I've never had it before so is definitely hormone related. I can't go near a doctor's or hospital without breaking down or having a panic attack! Trouble is I often have several appointments a week as I'm now high risk (gestational diabetes has just been diagnosed) raised blood pressure and the anxiety on top. No chance of me enjoying this pregnancy but I'm 23wks now so just focusing on the end! There is so much help out there if you need it. Don't be afraid to ask for it xx
