Hi im new here and not sure if im posting on the correct forum however here is my question/ concern...
I had a quad screen done at 15wks 1 day. My results came back high risk for down syndrome at 1:117. I am 33yrs old and so terrified because this is my only shot at having a baby.
Here are my detailed results
Hcg value 115.67 IU/ml
Hcg MoM 2.13
AFP 36.1 ng/ml
AFP MoM 0.98
Ue3 (unconj estriol) 0.51ng/ml
Ue3 MoM 0.61
Inhibin A 292 pg/ml
Inhibin A 1.36 MoM
I did the amniocentesis on Monday and awaiting results in two weeks!!
Is there anyone out there with similar or worse results that had amnio and there baby was fine ...no chromsone problems??
I am terrified...please help. Pllzz.

1:117 is considered high risk. Basically with the same result 116 women will be fine but 1 will be carrying a foetus with Down's. You may be ok. Just wait for the amnio results which will give you a definately answer. Just remember Downs syndrome is rare x
I had a 1 in 99 risk after quad screening at 17+2wks, but I'm 40 which pushes the risk up. I didn't want an amnio but my hospital offers the Iona test privately and that came back as less than 1 in 1 million risk. Still only at 32 weeks but hopefully all will be well.
Easier said than done perhaps, but try not to worry too much about something that's out of your control - plenty of time for that if there actually is a problem. Good luck!
Hi april thanks for your reply. I am very scared of the amnio results. The thing is i realize that the risk is not really a good indication. Because ppl with 1:10 came back clear etc. I did alot of reading and it really comes down to the hcg and ue3/estriol values and mine are not good. Hcg is high @ 2.13MoM and ue3 is at 0.61 MoM which is low. And high hcg with low ue3 is the bad combo. This has me going crazy and crying all the time. I feel i will b ripped apart if the results are bad. Can i ask what ur hcg and estriol values were?
I pray god that we both end up with normal healthy babies.
Hi purple dragon, my hCG was 2.44 MoM and my uE3 was 0.67 MoM. The quad test is apparently a lot less accurate than the nuchal measurement so a lot of women will get a 'high risk' result but will be fine in the end.
Can you talk to your midwife about your feelings? She may be able to help set some fears to rest and should be able to get you some counselling if things don't go well.
Thanks very much for your reply. I see that our results are similar. And your iona test was negative which is good...but I know everyone is different. I have the support of my parents and husband but no one can really take away the fear. Im just holding on tight till results of amino. Thanks again april. Good luck.
Hi april i didnt realize the test i did was amnio PCR ...it didnt take as long as the full test to get results and i got it back today! It checked for the major chromosone abnormality...all is normal ... Thanks be to God. Im so relieved! Hoping and praying things continue to go well by His grace! God bless!
