I spent the evening outside yesterday at a garden party and now have loads of itchy insect bites. I was going to use anthisan but it says not to use when pregnant (38 weeks) spoke to a well known chemist and they wouldn't recommend anything, due to pregnancy and tole me to make a doctors appointment. Has anyone used anything over the counter for insect bites when pregnant or do I need to contact GP/MW to make sure?

Pregnancy and insect bites
I've always taken Loratadine for hay-fever during pregnancy which would work for bites or if you don't want to take any medication some savlon or sudocreme would probably soothe them. If you're not comfortable taking medication, you could book a gp appointment and double check with them that it's safe or maybe ask your midwife what's safe to use.
I had the exact same thing when pregnant gp was very annoyed that the chemist didn’t give me E45 itch relief cream. Double check it before you buy, but it worked.
The only thing ever worked for me for insect bites is After Bite. I believe it is fine for pregnancy but you could contact the manufacturer to confirm, or ask a pharmacist. Loratadine is fine in pregnancy although you may find it doesn’t do much. Ice packs work really well in the short term. Xx
If you can stomach it, apply heat directly to the bites. A hot teaspoon works (dip it in as hot water as you can bear) or they do actually sell hot pens for this. The heat breaks down the stuff in the bite that makes it itch and they should feel better for you
Just to update in case anyone else has the same. The doctor prescribed me an antibiotic cream. I've also been using camomile lotion 🤞it all starts to work soon. Not what I want during the last week of my pregnancy 🤦♀️
Hi I had this same itchiness when I was pregnant. And I made appointment with my gp they gave me antibiotics for that. And if it's too much then call your gp as soon as possible. God bless you.
