Goats cheese during pregnancy? Worried I’ve eaten a ton of it!

Went out for dinner last night and had a goats cheese salad, quickly read up online before I ordered it and and internet said as long as it doesn’t have rind on it then that’s ok.

However ive gone into a panic for some reason, the goats cheese I ate was soft and creamy, not the crumbly kind, was sorta whipped. Now reading online I shouldn’t have eaten it🥲 However there was quite a lot of it and now I’m worried baby could contract listeria! Cant see anything online to reassure me.

Anyone have any advice or reassurance? Xx

I dont know if this is reassuring but until reading this I also didn’t know about not eating the rind on goats cheese in pregnancy and continued eating it as thought goats cheese is veggie and generally safe anyways if pasteurised or cooked. I had it in salad, on pizza, in quiche etc so a lot!

Baby is here and he is fine so didn’t harm him at all.

I think listeria is pretty rare anyways so you very very likely ok.

Oh that’s reassuring I’m not the only one I just admit🤣so happy your little bubba is well! Xx

A lot of commercial goats cheese has been pasteurised l think, so you probably weren't as much at risk as previously.

From what you describe - the cheese being soft and creamy, it sounds like most pasteurised cheeses on the market and should be safe. Watch out for any signs of food poisoning - nausea, fever etc. A few evenings ago I had a bite of white whipped cheese in my salad before I realised it was roquefort. I was quite nervous about it as it is a no no during pregnancy, so had some active charcoal when I got home. I always have it to hand now in case I eat something I regret. It wipes out the toxins and helps prevent food poisoning.

I came here in a bit of a panic because I've just unthinkingly eaten a bacon, brie and cranberry panini. I saw it on the menu in a sandwich shop and decided I fancied it without stopping to think! You're not the only one!
